Espen Andersen (born October 28, 1993 in Baerums Verk , Akershus ) is a Norwegian Nordic combined . In 2013 he made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup .

Career

He took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2012 in Erzurum , Turkey , and competed in all three competitions. On February 22nd, 2012 he finished fifth after jumping from the normal hill and ten kilometers of cross-country skiing. In the team competition he took fourth place together with Audun Hokholt, Sindre Ure Søtvik and Øystein Granbu Lien. On February 25, 2012, after jumping from the normal hill and a five-kilometer cross-country skiing, he won the bronze medal behind Øystein Granbu Lien and Ilkka Herola .

In the 2012/13 season he made his debut on March 15, 2013 at the Home World Cup in Oslo in the Nordic Combined World Cup . In the Gunderson competition on the large hill, he finished 47th. Previously, he took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec . In the team competition, he took sixth place together with Sindre Pettersen, Espen Bjørnestad and Mads Wåler. In the competition consisting of jumping from the normal hill and a 10 kilometer run, he took 29th place.

He collected his first World Cup points in the 2013/14 season at the home World Cup in Oslo. At the Gunderson competition on the large hill, he ran to 20th place and collected 11 World Cup points. At the end of the season he finished with a total of 17 points together with Giuseppe Michielli in 62nd place in the overall World Cup.

On January 24th, 2015 he started at the World Cup in Sapporo and finished twelfth for the first time among the top 15. At the team sprint in Val di Fiemme he finished sixth together with Magnus Moan as Norway II. In the overall World Cup of the 2014/15 season he finished 45th with 41 points together with Mario Seidl . In the 2015/16 season he collected 33 points in the World Cup and together with Lukas Runggaldier finished 39th in the overall World Cup.

At the home World Cup in Lillehammer on December 2, 2016, he finished second in the team competition behind the German team together with Mikko Kokslien , Håvard Klemetsen and Jørgen Graabak . One day later he finished sixth in the Gunderson competition on the normal hill for the first time in the top ten. He celebrated his first World Cup victory on January 14, 2017. In the team sprint in Val di Fiemme, he won together with Jørgen Graabak in front of the teams from the Czech Republic and Italy.

At the beginning of the 2017/18 season , he won his first individual World Cup on November 24, 2017 in Kuusamo, Finland . He repeated this at the second World Cup in Lillehammer .
