Espen Lysdahl (born April 19, 1990 in Asker ) is a former Norwegian ski racer . He mainly started in slalom and giant slalom .
biography
Lysdahl competed in his first FIS races in Norway in December 2005 and took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in 2007 , where he finished sixth in the giant slalom. After first appearances in the European Cup in December 2007, he started regularly in the European Cup from winter 2008/09. His best result so far in this racing series he achieved on January 27, 2011 with sixth place in the slalom of Méribel . On December 18, 2009 Lysdahl was used in the Super G of Val Gardena for the first time in the World Cup , but was unable to classify himself in the points there, as in his six subsequent World Cup appearances.
In 2009 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen he took part in a Junior World Championship for the first time and achieved 15th place in the downhill as the best result. A year later he was more successful at the Junior World Championships in the Mont Blanc region , where he won silver in the Super G and bronze in the giant slalom. Also in 2010 he became Norwegian Junior Champion in Slalom and Giant Slalom and won the bronze medal in the Super Combined at the Norwegian Championships .
Due to his degree in finance at the University of Denver , Lysdahl has been taking part in races in North America since 2011/12 and is competing in the Nor-Am Cup instead of in Europe . In this racing series, he achieved his first podium finish on December 14, 2011 as runner-up in the Panorama giant slalom and his first victory on March 16, 2014 with the Canada Olympic Park slalom .
On December 14, 2014, after an almost four-year break, he again competed in a World Cup race with the slalom in Åre , qualified for the second run with start number 42 and finished ninth in the final score, with which he won his first World Cup points.
Lysdahl ended his career after the 2015/16 season.
