The Esselbach is the right source brook of the Wachenbach in the Main-Spessart district in the Bavarian Spessart .
Surname
The name Esselbach comes from the Middle High German term Espin, which means aspen and the basic word Bach. The explanation is that there is a stream of aspen. The change from n or l before b is not uncommon. The current form with ss was created through assimilation . The stream gave its name to the community of the same name.
geography
course
The Esselbach rises in the Kändelsbrunnen in Bischbrunn . There was a small lake there until the 20th century. The spring mostly falls dry in summer. The brook flows piped through the village in a south-easterly direction and is reinforced by other sources. He reaches Kredenbach through Oberndorf and Esselbach . There the Esselbach bends to the northeast and unites at the Salzbachbrücke with the more water-rich Steinmarker Bach to the Wachenbach, which is also called Salzbach in the following and continues in the direction of the Esselbach.
