The Essetalbrücke is the bridge of the Hofgeismar bypass on the federal highway 83 leading over the Esse near Hofgeismar in the north Hessian district of Kassel . The building, which is around 400 m long and a maximum of 20 m high, was opened to traffic on November 8, 2013.
Geographical location
The Essetalbrücke is about 700 m southeast of the outskirts of Hofgeismar. It crosses - as part of the 3.4 km long bypass road as part of the national highway 83 - the Diemel influx Esse , the bridge m north-northwest of the approximately 150 Walke mill stands. The Kassel – Warburg railway runs about 150 m west-southwest of the bridge , over which another bridge on the B 83 runs.

The Essetal Bridge, which is around 400 m long and a maximum of 20 m high, spans the valley of the Esse in an arched manner. By far the largest of the five bridges of the new bypass was built with ten bridge piers and eleven segments made of reinforced concrete with 10,300 m³ of concrete and 2,400 tons of steel. The y-shaped pillars are provided each on a 8.4 by 11.4 m wide concrete slab, the pillar 12 per 10 to 20 meters deep embedded in the ground and 1.2 m thick reinforced concrete piles of the foundation resting.

Construction of the Essetal Bridge began on January 27, 2011. It was completed after remaining work (asphalting and lane markings) in autumn 2013. It was opened to traffic on November 8, 2013 as part of the clearance of the bypass road.
