Estadio Unidad Deportiva del IMSS is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Mexican city of Oaxtepec in the state of Morelos . When the local CF Oaxtepec belonged to the Primera División in the 1982/83 and 1983/84 seasons , it was the venue for the first Mexican league.
history
The stadium, which can accommodate around nine thousand visitors, and the surrounding area of the Centro Vacacional IMSS Oaxtepec are owned by the Mexican federal social insurance institute Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social , or IMSS for short.
When CF Oaxtepec played first-class in the early 1980s, the stadium was home to the top Mexican division of club football. Due to the differing sources, it is only uncertain when the stadium was used by CF Oaxtepec as a premier league venue. While, according to the Mediotiempo database, the first home game of the 1982/83 season was played on September 12, 1982 (1-0 against Tampico-Madero ) at the Estadio Unidad Deportiva, the first home games were played in Puebla according to the season article at RSSSF and that Estadio Unidad Deportiva only used from the home game on February 17, 1983 against Cruz Azul (also 1-0). According to both sources, the home premiere in their own stadium was a 1-0 win. The team also said goodbye with a 1-0 home win (on May 12, 1984 against Universidad de Guadalajara ) from the first division. The last first division goal in the Estadio Unidad Deportiva del IMSS was achieved by Omar Mendiburu in the 66th minute.
The stadium was last used in professional football in the 2011/12 season , when the local club Lagartos de Oaxtepec was represented in the third-rate Segunda División . However, the club sold its license to Reynosa FC after just one season .
