history
The name Estanzuela is etymologically derived from the Spanish word Estancia , which (also) means resting place. Spanish settlers wanted to take a break here on their way to the west in 1740, but then definitely settled there. In 1769 the Spanish crown recognized the village under its current name, after independence it was elevated to a municipality in 1825.
