Esteban María Laxague

Esteban María Laxague SDB (born March 4, 1957 in Coronel Pringles near Bahía Blanca , Argentina ) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Viedma .

Life

He went to school at the Colegio Don Bosco in Bahía Blanca and finished his education in 1979 with the title bachiller . In addition to his native Spanish, he speaks fluent French and Italian.

After joining the religious community of the Salesians of Don Bosco , he was ordained a priest on May 10, 1982 . After stints in Neuquén and Bahía Blanca, he became director of the La Piedad school in the latter city . In 1990 he became director of the Colegio Don Bosco. He also spent another year of theological studies in Rome.

On October 21, 2002, he was appointed Bishop of Viedma by Pope John Paul II . On December 21, 2002 he received episcopal ordination from the Bishop of Neuquén , Marcelo Angiolo Melani SDB. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Lomas de Zamora , Agustín Roberto Radrizzani SDB, and the Archbishop Emeritus of Bahía Blanca , Jorge Mayer .

His brother Pedro Laxague , at whose episcopal ordination he served as co-consecrator, is Bishop of Zárate-Campana .
