Estefania Miranda (* 1975 in Chile ) is a Chilean choreographer and curator .
Life
At the age of 15 she received a dance scholarship from the European Council and went to Edinburgh / Scotland. Then she started studying dance at the University of the Arts in Tilburg / Netherlands and made guest appearances as a dancer in Ireland and Belgium. Already in her third year of study she received an engagement as an ensemble member of the Ismael Ivo Company at the German National Theater Weimar . She stayed here until 2000 and graduated with a diploma.
She has been working together for many years with the renowned choreographer, founder of the largest European dance festival Impuls Tanz in Vienna, and director of the Biennale di Venezia / Dance, Ismael Ivo. In Ivo's choreographies, Estefania Miranda was seen as a soloist in numerous leading roles. Under his leadership the company worked with other important artists such as B. Gerald Thomas / New York, Marcio Aurelio / São Paulo. The productions “Der nackte Michelangelo” directed by George Tabori at the Schaubühne Berlin and “Emigration”, based on a common idea of Ismael Ivo and Heiner Müller, attracted particular attention . This is followed by international tours a. a. in Europe, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt and Turkey.
During this time, Estefania Miranda also developed choreographies for theater productions and her own full-length dance pieces at the German National Theater in Weimar . From 1998 to 2001 she was also a lecturer at the Leipzig University of the Arts , drama department / dance department. In 2000 Estefania Miranda became an actress and member of the ensemble at the German National Theater Weimar, where she worked a. a. directed by Susanne Lietzow and Christina Emig-Köning. This was followed by projects as a dancer and actress at the Schauspiel Hannover , Theater Phönix Linz , Cairo Opera House, with Marina Abramović in Paris and with the choreographer Hans van den Broeck, co-founder of les Ballets chorégraphique de la Belgique, for the International Dance Festival Vienna.
In 2009 she founded the company Estefania Miranda and acquired her own production center with rehearsal rooms, a stage and a café in Berlin. Her work, which has been celebrated by the public and the press, has been produced and shown internationally. Stations were u. a .: Theater de Vorst Tilburg / NL, Festival de Printemps Lausanne, Rote Fabrik Zürich, Usher Hall Edinburgh , Tanzhaus Zürich, International Dance Weeks Dresden, International Dance Days Potsdam, F estspielhaus Hellerau Dresden , Societätstheater Dresden, German National Theater Weimar, Landestheater Coburg , City Theater Freiberg and Landestheater Detmold etc. The trilogy “Zwischenraum”, based on texts by Sarah Kane and Michel Houellebecq, attracted particular attention . A tour of their current production “Trust Treats Truth”, which was co-produced with the German National Theater Weimar, is in the planning stage.
Since 2010 Estefania Miranda has been the curator for dance at the German National Theater Weimar, artistic director and production manager of the International Dance Festival Weimar, which she founded. Here she presents current productions by internationally renowned choreographers, in-house productions, workshops, exhibitions and audience-interactive performances. In 2012 she was appointed director of dance at the Konzert Theater Bern for the 2013/2014 season.
