Etawah is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .

Etawah is on the north bank of the Yamuna . The city is halfway between Agra (110 km west-northwest) and Kanpur (135 km east-southeast). Etawah is the administrative center of the district of the same name .

The national highways NH 2 (Agra – Kanpur) and NH 92 ( Gwalior - Farrukhabad ) cross at Etawah . The NH 91A runs from Etawah to Kannauj, 100 km to the east . The railway line from Agra to Kanpur also runs through Etawah.

As a city, Etawah has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . It is divided into 36 wards . At the 2011 census, Etawah had 256,838 residents.
