Farrukhabad is a city in the district of the same name in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
Farrukhabad is located 130 km northwest of Kanpur on the north Indian plain on the right bank of the Ganges . Farrukhabad borders the garrison town of Fatehgarh to the east .
Farrukhabad is connected to the surrounding cities of Mainpuri , Kannauj and Shahjahanpur by main roads. A railway line runs from Farrukhabad to Mainpuri and Kasganj .
As a city, Farrukhabad has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . It is divided into 37 wards . At the 2011 census, Farrukhabad had 276,581 inhabitants.
