Farrukhabad ( Hindi : फ़र्रुख़ाबाद ज़िला) is a district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
Farrukhabad is located in the central west of Uttar Pradesh in the Kanpur division . The district is 130 km northwest of the city of Kanpur . The Ramganga flows along the eastern border of the district, while the Ganges flows through the eastern part of the district. The Kali ( Kali Nadi ), a right tributary of the Ganges, runs in the southern district . The district administration is located in the city of Fatehgarh . The district of Farrukhabad covers 2181 km².

The population of Farrukhabad was 1,885,204 at the 2011 census. Ten years earlier it was 1,570,408. The gender ratio was 874 women for 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 69.04% (77.40% for men, 59.44% for women). 84.67% of the population were Hindu and 14.69% were Muslim .
