Auraiya ( Hindi : औरैया जिला) is a district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
Auraiya is 80 km west of the city of Kanpur in the Kanpur division . In the south, the Yamuna River borders the district. The district was created on September 17, 1997 from the Tehsils Auraiya and Bidhuna of the Etawah district . The capital is the city of Auraiya . The district covers 2016 km².
