Kasganj , also Kanshi Ram Nagar , is a district in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
The area is 1955 km². The administrative seat is the city of Kasganj .
history
Kasganj District was created on May 3, 1997 from parts of Etah District . Shortly afterwards he was given the name Kanshi Ram Nagar, named after the politician Kanshi Ram . In 2012 it was renamed Kasganj.

The population is 1,436,719 (2011). The population growth rate in the period from 2001 to 2011 was 16.93%. Kasganj has a gender ratio of 880 women per 1000 men. The district has a literacy rate of 61.02% in 2011, an increase of almost 12 percentage points compared to 2001. Almost 84% of the population are Hindus and around 15% are Muslims .
The urbanization rate of the district is approximately 20.1%. The largest city was Kasganj with a population of 101,277.
