Firozabad District was established on February 2, 1989 by order of the government of Uttar Pradesh.
population
The population is 2,498,156 (2011). The population growth rate in the period from 2001 to 2011 was 21.69%. Firozabad has a gender ratio of 875 women per 1000 men. The district has a literacy rate of 71.92% in 2011, an increase of more than six percentage points compared to 2001. Almost 86% of the population are Hindus , approx. 13% are Muslims and approx. 0.8% are Jainas .
The urbanization rate of the district is approximately 33.4%. The largest cities were Firozabad with 604,214 inhabitants and Shikohabad with 107,404 inhabitants.
