Firozabad ( Hindi : फ़िरोज़ाबाद , Urdu : فیروزآباد) is a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India , about 40 kilometers east of Agra and 200 km southeast of Delhi .

Firozabad is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . It has a population of around 600,000 (2011 census), is the center of artisanal glass production and is located on the northern edge of the Dekkan Plateau and on the Agra - Kanpur railway line . Firozabad is known as the glass city of India.

In 2014 the city of Firozabad was promoted to a Municipal Corporation ( Nagar Nigam ).
