Tallow fatty amine oxyethylate
Tallow fatty aminoxethylate or tallow alkylamine ethoxylate , engl. Polyethoxylated tallow amine (POEA) , tallowamine , even tallow amine , is a nonionic surfactant and a mixture of acylated amine ethoxylate - polymers of different length. It belongs to the group of fatty amines , is a yellow-brown liquid and easily soluble in ethanol and water.

Tallow fatty aminoxethylates are used as additives in many herbicides to improve the penetration of the active ingredient through the plant cell wall .

It has been shown that sebum aminoxethylates destroy the cell membranes of the gills of aquatic organisms . In combination with glyphosate and aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), synergistic effects occur that cause apoptosis and necrosis in human umbilical cord cells , embryonic cells and placental cells , as they increase the permeability of the cell membrane.
Health concerns
The French Environment Minister Ségolène Royal commissioned a research institute in February 2016, in connection with the (continued or non-) approval of glyphosates and thus of Roundup in agriculture and horticulture for the entire European Union, EU, which this year Investigate health risks of the substance:
"Royal has asked ANSES to immediately re-evaluate crop protection products that contain glyphosates with admixtures, especially those from the tallowamine family ... Royal demanded that the marketing authorization of all such products that pose serious risks be revoked."
In July 2016, the country representatives in the “Standing EU Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed” prohibited the previously common addition of POEA to glyphosate . The ban has been in effect since August 22, 2016.
