Etienne Didier Alphonse Perincioli (born October 3, 1881 in Doccio , Quarona , Piemont , † March 10, 1944 in Bern ) was a Swiss sculptor .

Life

Etienne Didier Alphonse Perincioli studied from 1895 to 1898 at the arts and crafts school in Varallo . From 1899 he worked as a plasterer in Montreux . From 1902 to 1903 he trained in life drawing and antiquities in Paris . From 1903 to 1907 he continued to work in Montreux; There he married Rose Dietrich from Bern in 1905. In 1908 he settled in Bern for his sculpting work on the Casino and Grand Hotel Bellevue . In 1907 the daughter Germaine and in 1911 the son Marcel were born in Brunnmatt.

In 1909 Etienne Perincioli first took part in the Christmas exhibition of the Bernese artists. In 1913 he became a member of the Society of Swiss Painters, Sculptors and Architects (GSMBA) and the Union internationale des Beaux-Arts et des Lettres in Paris. The well-known works that adorn the Bern cityscape include the Art Deco furnishings of the Splendid cinema and the larger-than-life Art Nouveau stone sculpture of the Centaur in front of the Kunsthalle from 1918.

Etienne Perincioli's son is the Bernese sculptor Marcel Perincioli . His grandson, the architect Fritz Thormann from Atelier 5 , built the Halen housing estate, a “milestone in modern housing estate architecture ”. His granddaughter is the director and writer Cristina Perincioli .

Etienne Perincioli started his career with expressive portraits. His architectural art found attention in Bern and in the Bernese Oberland. In his late career he created hypernaturalistic animal sculptures.
