Eugéne Cornelius Arthurs IC (born April 9, 1914 in Keady , Ireland ; † February 23, 1978 ) was an Irish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Tanga .

Life

Eugène Cornelius Arthur joined the Congregation of Rosminians at and received on 23 March 1943, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On June 9, 1950, Pope Pius XII appointed him . for the first Apostolic Prefect of Tanga.

On May 7, 1958, Eugéne Cornelius Arthurs became the first bishop of Tanga as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture Tanga. The Bishop of Kilmore , Austin Quinn , ordained him episcopal on August 24 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Dromore , Eugene O'Doherty , and the Auxiliary Bishop in Armagh , William John Conway .

Arthurs attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On December 15, 1969, Pope Paul VI took the resignation put forward by Eugéne Cornelius Arthurs and appointed him titular bishop of Tepelta . Arthurs renounced the titular bishopric of Tepelta on August 10, 1976.
