Life

Eugen zu Putlitz, who founded the younger Laask line, took over the Laaske estate near Putlitz from his father in 1859. He was a co-founder and member of the board of directors of the Landwirtschaftliche Vereinsbank for Prignitz e. G. in Pritzwalk and also board member of the Pritzwalk Agricultural Association. He was district deputy of the Ostprignitz district and occasionally represented the Ostprignitz district administrator in his official business, for example in August / September 1888.

Together with his nephew Konrad Gans zu Putlitz , he campaigned for the construction and financing of the Perleberg-Wittstock railway line at the beginning of the 1880s , which was completed by 1885.

After the death of his older brother Gustav, Eugen zu Putlitz became the senior of the family in 1890 and thus Hereditary Marshal of the Kurmark Brandenburg and member of the Prussian manor house for life.

The Kreisblatt für die Westprignitz (No. 18 of January 31, 1893) printed the following obituary after his death: “On the night of January 29th to 30th, the manor Frhr passed gently in Laaske after a short but serious suffering. to Putlitz-Laaske. In him, death met one of the best men. Which Prignitz child should not know him, the old man with the brave heart and the always helping hand? How many a man has he stood by with advice and deeds. Like many who had been badly affected by the unfavorable years of the past, he saved from economic ruin by his intervention. Ask the peasants, ask the citizens of the surrounding cities and towns, ask the grandees of the country. He was a nobleman in the best sense of the word. He was often heard calling the Prignitz's father, a proud name for a landowner. In our time of materialism and selfish striving, appearances like that of the Laasker Baron have become rare. Therefore, double honor to the memory of the divorced. "
