history

According to the principles of self-responsibility, self-management and self-help, the advance payment association to Perleberg was founded on December 15, 1861 and was thus the starting point of today's Volks- und Raiffeisenbank Prignitz eG. The bank's roots are based on six commercial banking associations and dozen of agricultural association banks as well as savings and loan banks.

The cooperative idea was able to assert itself in Prignitz over difficult economic times and all social systems. The cooperatives survived both world wars , inflation and the effects of the political systems on the cooperative system and in some cases emerged stronger. Credit institutions that emerged after the fall of the Berlin Wall quickly realized that they could only react to the changed economic conditions and the growing competitive pressure in the banking industry together. After further renaming and mergers with the merger of Nordmärkische Bank eG in Pritzwalk and Volks- und Raiffeisenbank Perleberg eG on June 30, 1998, Volks- und Raiffeisenbank Prignitz eG was founded. With its economic, social and cultural commitment, this universal bank continues the ideas of its founders.

In 2011, Volks- und Raiffeisenbank Prignitz eG celebrated its 150th birthday.

In September 2011, the apprentices from the cooperative bank organized a concert for young bands. A total of eight bands from the region took part in this concert and received feedback on their performance from a jury consisting of Jennifer Weist , front woman of the band Jennifer Rostock , and well-known music greats from Prignitz.
