Eugen von Kesseler (born April 4, 1832 in Düsseldorf , † February 4, 1885 in Cologne ) was a lawyer and member of the Reichstag .

origin

His parents were Franz Peter Christoph Hubert Nepomuk von Kesseler (* November 5, 1796; † February 9, 1865) and his wife Juliane Henriette Antonie Pauline von Heister (* September 1, 1801; † June 10, 1868).

Life

Kesseler attended the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Cologne and studied law from 1849 to 1852 at the universities in Bonn and Berlin . In 1852 he became a trainee lawyer in Koblenz, did a year of voluntary military service during his traineeship and was a lieutenant in the Landwehr since 1855. In 1857 he became an assessor at the regional court in Cologne. 1860–1861 he took a one-year vacation to serve in the Pope's army as a first lieutenant. For his military performance in the battle of Castelfidardo he received the papal Castelfidardo medal and the Knight's Cross of the Order of St. Gregory . In the 1870s he was a district judge in Cologne and a manor in Monheim am Rhein , Daberg and Kollenbach .

From 1870 to 1874 he served as delegates of the constituency Cologne Region 3 (Rheinbach - Bonn) member of the Prussian House of Representatives , from 1882 to 1885 he was in the House of Representatives as a representative of the constituency Cologne again one (Prague Cologne). From 1871 to 1884 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the center for the constituency of Cologne 4 ( Rheinbach - Bonn ).

Eugen von Kessler is buried in the Marienburg Park in Monheim, the grave still exists (2011).

He married Franziska Simmons on February 22, 1862 (January 12, 1839 - February 4, 1885). The couple had several children:
