Eurocom (formerly Eurocom Entertainment Software ) was a British development studio for computer games .

Company history

Eurocom was founded in October 1988 by Mat Sneap, Chris Shrigley, Hugh Binns, Tim Rogers and Neil Baldwin, in particular to develop games for the Nintendo Entertainment System game console . In the course of time, Eurocom expanded its operations to include most of the major game consoles and handheld consoles .

Among other things, the company became known for its porting of arcade games to consoles, but was particularly popular for its work on licensed works such as Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End , Ice Age 2 - Now Thawing , the James Bond series and Batman Begins .

On November 23, 2012, Eurocom laid off around 75% of its 200 employees. In an announcement, Company Director Hugh Binns stated: “ […] Eurocom are undertaking a restructuring which I regret to say has meant we've made the majority of our workforce redundant today […] ” (German: “[…] Eurocom is located in a period of restructuring, which, as I regret to say, means that we have had to lay off the majority of our workforce today [...] ”). He justified this with a "rapidly decreasing demand for console games" and that the company will concentrate mainly on the development of mobile titles in the future. On December 6, 2012, the company fired all remaining employees and suspended business operations.
