G-Force - Agents with Bite (Original title: G-Force ) is an American action family comedy from 2009 . The Oscar-winning visual effects specialist Hoyt Yeatman is making his directorial debut with this film, in which the new Disney digital 3-D technology was used in a real film for the first time . The film is a parody of Mission: Impossible .

action

In an FBI research laboratory, scientists under the direction of Ben equip small animals with a translation module so that they can communicate with humans. The three guinea pigs Darwin, Blaster and Juarez, the star mole Speckles and the housefly Mooch are trained to be agents. Darwin acts as the team leader, while Blaster and Juarez also support him in the field. Speckles is responsible for the computer technology.

As a trial by fire, the team has to infiltrate household appliance manufacturer Saber Industries. The crew is supposed to steal files from a computer there in order to uncover a conspiracy called Cluster Storm on their first deployment . But since they apparently got the wrong file and the action was not approved, the FBI special agents decide to capture the animals and close the research laboratory. On the run, the G-Force team arrives at a pet store, where they meet Hurley.

Juarez and Blaster can be bought and thus reach freedom. Hoping to be buried in the garden and thus escape from the cage, Speckles plays dead. But the shelter owners choose the easier route and so Speckles ends up in a garbage truck. Darwin manages to escape with Hurley in tow. On the way back to Ben, they discover the terrible secret: in all coffee machines, mixers, microwaves and refrigerators from Saber Industries there are highly armed fighting machines that threaten to destroy mankind by controlling space junk. In Ben's house they finally meet Juarez and Blaster, who have since fled from their new owners.

With one of the prototypes of a special vehicle developed by Ben, they manage to escape from Ben's house, where the FBI's special agents have meanwhile arrived. In the wild chase they manage to get rid of their pursuers and go to Saber's property. Darwin is separated from the group due to the explosion of a booby trap triggered by a mutated microwave and finds his way to the main computer alone. Meanwhile, Saber has started the project, which turns all devices produced by his company into robots, which causes the FBI to convert the property. Meanwhile, Darwin has arrived at the main computer and realizes that Speckels was the mastermind behind the action and is about to strike the final blow against humanity. He explains to Darwin that he wanted to take revenge on the people who had destroyed his family with this action. Darwin can convince him at the last second of the nonsense of his action, whereupon Speckles tries to stop the program. However, this is only possible thanks to a virus that Speckles copied to the data carrier instead of the file at the beginning of the film.

Reviews

"Action film for children, which, in its mixture of animal animation, computer adventures and sedate real film event (also as a 3D version), is noticeable at best with arrogant jokes and a dull plot."

“[T] he film takes itself far too seriously, and on the narrative level there is a problem everywhere. Directing debutant Hoyt Yeatman, a gifted special effects technician, does not manage to create something like narrative flow at any point in the film. […] Incredible that this film could slip through the final approval of the producer Jerry Bruckheimer (' Pirates of the Caribbean ') , who was programmed for success . "

- Frank Juergens - Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung

“Well-rounded, well-done action agent film for children with a very decent plot, spiced with just the right amount of humor and suspense, with well-made effects and a little justified malicious glee. Only the very poppy soundtrack could be improved. Still a nice entertainment for the whole family. "

- Julian Reischl - Movie Maze
