Disney Digital 3-D

Disney Digital 3-D is a trademark of the Walt Disney Company for digitally animated 3D films that are only projected digitally . Essentially, it's a Disney brand for RealD Cinema technology. Disney Digital 3-D is not part of RealD, it is solely a production method. RealD , XpanD 3D , MasterImage and Dolby 3D are all demonstration technologies used to play back 3D movies.

Disney released Nightmare Before Christmas three times in a remastered 3D version, first on October 20, 2006, then on October 19, 2007, and finally on October 24, 2008. Disney also released 3D versions of Meet the Robinsons and the two concerts Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert and Jonas Brothers : The 3D Concert Experience . The animated film Above , which was launched in September 2009, was the Pixar Studio's first production in Disney Digital 3-D. Pixar's other films Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were shown to the public for the first time in October 2009 (USA) as double screenings in 3D. Toy Story 3 followed on June 18, 2010, and this film was released in Germany on July 29, 2010. The film Tron: Legacy , which opened on January 27, 2011, was also shown in this format.

confusion

Disney Digital 3-D is not a presentation format. Films advertised as being in Disney Digital 3-D can be shown in any digital 3D format, including RealD, Dolby 3D, XpanD 3D and Master Image. Even so, Disney promotes all Disney Digital 3-D films as if they were a specially developed and separate 3D format.
