Hoyt Yeatman

Hoyt Yeatman (born January 23, 1955 in San Francisco , California ) is an American film director who received an Oscar for his work as a visual effects specialist . He is a graduate of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television .

Life and work

Hoyt Yeatman made his feature film debut as a director in 2009 with the action-packed family comedy G-Force - Agents with Bite , which was created under the wing of Jerry Bruckheimer and in which the new Disney digital 3-D technology was used for the first time in a real film .

In 1979, Yeatman and Abdi Sami founded Dream Quest Images - a groundbreaking visual effects studio - which was responsible for the motion control and underwater effects on the film Abyss (1989) and for which he won an Oscar in 1990 got. Dream Quest was bought by the Walt Disney Company in 1996 and renamed Disney's "The Secret Lab" in 1999. The Secret Lab closed its doors in 2002.

As a visual effects artist, he has worked on many well-known films, such as Die Fliege which was nominated for the British Academy Film Award in 1988 or My Great Friend Joe which was nominated for an Oscar in 1999 in the category Best Visual Effects .

In his capacity as a visual effects specialist, he made a number of well-known films with Jerry Bruckheimer, including The Rock (1996), Con Air (1997) and Armageddon - The Judgment Day (1998). Yeatman was involved in the 1988 production of Moonwalker, directed by Jerry Kramer and Colin Chilvers , with pop star Michael Jackson , which was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Special Effects.
