Secretary of State for Europe

In Austria there was a State Secretary for European Affairs 1990–2000 at the Federal Chancellery ( Austria joined the EU on January 1, 1995) in the Vranitzky and Gusenbauer governments, and again in 2005–2008 for the EU Council Presidency in the first half of 2006 (Gusenbauer government). The Austrian Foreign Minister has also been the official European Minister ( Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs , BMeiA) since 2007 .
