history

In March 2014, European Locomotive Leasing signed a framework agreement with Siemens Rail Systems for the delivery of up to 50 Siemens Vectron electric locomotives. Both AC single-system locomotives and multi -system locomotives were ordered. All vehicles have the ETCS train control system , are prepared for additional train control systems and have a maximum speed of 160 km / h. When the contract was signed, the black and green design of the locomotives was also presented. The purchase was financed by the investment company KKR .

In May 2014, test drives began with the first two locomotives intended for ELL; the delivery took place in June 2014. In July 2014 five locomotives were delivered. The first leasing customers were Salzburger Eisenbahn Transportlogistik , RTB Cargo and SBB Cargo International . In November 2014, tests were carried out for RegioJet in the Czech Republic and Slovakia , which resulted in the conclusion of a contract for three locomotives for a period of five years. The locomotives for RegioJet were given the yellow RegioJet paint scheme on the entire car body , with small European Locomotive Leasing logos visible on the sides. Further leases of ELL locomotives were made by the Steiermarkbahn , LTE Logistik- und Transport , the Osthannoversche Eisenbahnen , the Wiener Lokalbahnen and the GySEV / Raaberbahn . By June 2015, 34 locomotives from the framework agreement had been called up and delivered, eleven of which are multi-system capable.
