Eva Bacharach
Eva Bacharach (* around 1580 in Prague , † 1652 in Sofia ) was a Jewish Hebraist .
She was the daughter of Isaac ben Simson ha-Kohen and granddaughter of the famous Rabbi Löw from Prague. She was also the grandmother of Jair Bacharach . Her brothers were Chajim Cohen, rabbi in Poznan , and Naphtali Cohen, rabbi in Lublin .
As the daughter of such a respected rabbinical family, she acquired a broad knowledge of Hebrew and rabbinical literature at an early age and often argued over passages with rabbis . Such learning was very unusual for women at the time.
She was married to the Worms rabbi Abraham Samuel Bacharach. After his death in 1615 she returned to Prague. When her son Samson took over the rabbinate of Worms in 1650, she accompanied him there. In 1651 she made a pilgrimage to Palestine . During this trip she died in Sofia in 1652 , where she was buried with great honors.
