The Evangelical Lutheran Deanery Regensburg is one of the eight deanery districts of the Regensburg church district . The Dean's Office is currently headed by Dean Eckhard Herrmann. The deanery district is divided into three regions: city, west and east, each of which is headed by a deputy dean.
Evangelical Regensburg
The city of Regensburg can look back on a long evangelical tradition. The imperial part of Regensburg introduced the Reformation in 1542. At that time the city of Regensburg was divided among several imperial estates. Most of the city belonged to the Regensburg monastery and the imperial monasteries of St. Emmeram , Niedermünster and Obermünster , all of which remained Catholic. On October 15, 1542, an evangelical evening meal was celebrated for the first time. The pilgrimage church Zur Schönen Maria became the new parish church of the Protestant community in the course of the Reformation . The Oswald Church was designated for Protestant worship in the imperial city in 1552. The Dreieinigkeitskirche is the first new Protestant church in Old Bavaria. It was inaugurated on December 5, 1631.
