History and architecture

Bells in front of the church

The church was originally dedicated to St. Consecrated to Paul . The cross-shaped hall building was created by a neo-Gothic extension of a Romanesque hall church with a west tower shifted southward from the central axis . An arched building proved by excavation was in 12/13. Century replaced by the existing church in the core. The tower with low annex rooms that were later changed may be older. The south portal is marked with 1603. The choir yoke was re-vaulted in the middle of the 14th century, the ship yoke at the end of the 15th century. In 1887 there was a cross-shaped extension, at the same time the sound arcade was changed. The building was extensively renovated from 1979/80.

The plastered quarry stone building looks simple. The choir is structured by three-lane tracery windows with triple and quadruples . In the formative neo-Gothic renovation, the interior was oriented to the west. The rib vault in the former Schiffsjoch is busted, the keystone is marked 1496. In the south wall of the old choir there is a sink niche with a clover-leaf frame and a bearded head. The niche opposite is decorated with a painted crucifixion of Christ . Both niches are from the 14th century. Irregular pointed arch arcades lead to the groin vaulted tower rooms .

Furnishing

The rough sandstone relief in the west wall is marked 1523.

A bell with Majuskelinschrift and caster mark was poured into the Grawick workshop 1446th The tower clock was installed in 1887.
