The Evangelical Reformed Church is a listed church building on Krämerstrasse in Langenholzhausen , a district of Kalletal in the Lippe district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The church was originally St. Helena consecrated , it was in 1245 first mentioned. The previous church, an arched building, probably dates from the 12th century. In the 14th century it was expanded to include an eastern ship's bay and the choir . The two west bays were vaulted in a late Gothic style. Today's three-bay, vaulted hall closes with a 5/8 choir . A buttress on the north side is marked 1522. The building was extensively renovated in 1953/54 and from 1972 to 1975. The church is a quarry stone building with buttresses, the east side is more richly designed with two and three-lane tracery windows . The ship can be entered through a pointed arch portal , the windows have been changed to form a basket arch . A Romanesque tympanum with a Greek cross was reused on the tower portal . The choir and the adjoining yoke are vaulted with pear ribs and crown ridges over slender round services. The keystones are decorated with the Lippe rose and a Christ head . In the two west bays, more heavily busted rib vaults rest on polygonal wall pillars; the tower room is arched on a ridge. The sacrament niche shows a star in the pediment. Remains of wall paintings from the third quarter of the 15th century with depictions of Saints Georg, Laurentius and Elisabeth are preserved. The tendril paintings in the choir vault were added.
