History and architecture

View of the chancel

The hall church with a three-sided end was built from 1756 to 1759. The Romanesque west tower of a previous church was probably built in the 11th century. There are inscriptions above the portals of the simple quarry stone building. The walls are divided by arched windows. The formerly wide arches in the tower were walled up. The walls of the upper floor of the tower are structured by arched openings with inserted columns.

A simple, arched, plastered wooden barrel vault was drawn into the interior . The pulpit altar- organ structure from the period from 1774 to 1781 with older parts is remarkable . The carved pulpit from 1759 originally stood in Bochum-Weitmar. The altarpiece was painted by Fritz Gärtner in 1909.

The organ prospectus and prospectus pipes date from 1663 and were originally built for the Johanniskirche in Hagen . They were installed here in 1781. It had 9 registers . In 1912 the action was pneumatized. The organ was built in 1976 by the Alfred Führer workshop in Wilhelmshaven. It has 18 stops on two manuals and pedal .
