Evangelical Church of Bisses
The Protestant parish church is a listed church building in Bisses , a district of the Echzell community in the Wetterau district ( Hesse ).
History and architecture
The predecessor building of today's church was a chapel that already existed in the 14th century.
The church was dedicated to St. John the Baptist . The small hall building with a three-sided end was built in 1503 and changed in the 18th century. Three bells hang in the octagonal roof turret . Two of the bells with the striking notes e 2 and h 2 date from before the Reformation. One has no inscription, the other bears the inscription: "* iohannes * baptiste * in * biszis *". The group of pictures on the bell ring shows a group of pictures with Jesus on the cross, Mary and the church patron . Better known is the so-called silver bell from the 16th century with the inscription "* o * rex * glorie *". Since collected silver was used in the bell casting, it got this name.
The Lutherlinde in the churchyard is a designated natural monument.
Furnishing
