The Evangelical Church in Schillehnen (the place was called between 1938 and 1946: Schillfelde) in the former East Prussian district of Pillkallen (Schloßberg) was a half-timbered building from the late 18th century. Until 1945 it was the church of the Protestant population living in the parish of Schillenen (now: Pobedino ) . The church building no longer exists.
Geographical location
Today's settlement Pobedino is located in the northeast of the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast ( Koenigsberg region (Prussia) ) not far from the Russian-Lithuanian border. It belongs to the Dobrowolskoje selskoje posselenije (rural municipality Dobrowolsk (Pillkallen , 1938 to 1946 Schloßberg) ). The church stood in the center of the village directly on the main road, today's regional road R 511 (27A-031).
Church building
There are only a few documents about the Schillehner Church. From these it can be seen that the building was a simple wooden structure. The church was built between 1794 and 1796 and looked like a cozy half-timbered church with a tiled roof and a wooden tower . The construction of the church, which was inaugurated on January 17, 1796, was financed with royal funds approved by Friedrich Wilhelm II . The wooden tower was partially demolished after a lightning strike .
The interior of the church was simple. Altar and pulpit were united. The organ , which came from the workshop of the Königsberg organ builder Max Terletzki , was inaugurated on September 21, 1873. The church bell consisted of two bells .
The church did not survive World War II . There is no trace of her today. Today only one building that was used by others reminds of church times in Schillehnen and Schillfelde: it is the remainder of the church in Schillehnen , consecrated in 1925 .
Parish
A Protestant parish was founded in Schillehnen in 1793. The church patronage was noble, but ultimately state. A pastorate was not established until 1795, shortly before the newly built church was inaugurated. In 1925 the parish , which was spread over thirty places and residential areas, had 3300 parishioners.
The parish of Schillehnen was until 1945 part of the church district Pillkallen (Schloßberg) within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
Today Pobedino is located in the extensive catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran parish in Babuschkino (Groß Degesen) . It belongs to the Kaliningrad (Königsberg) provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
