The Salvator Church

The Evangelical Salvator Church in Rosbach was first named as a parish church in 1486. The church is registered under the number A5 in the list of architectural monuments in Windeck .

history

The first documentary mention is in Liber valoris (approx. 1300) as Rospe capella . In the Bergische inquiries of 1582 it was known as ecclesia nostri servatoris Jhesu Christi in Roisspach . At that time the pastor's position was occupied by the Duke von Berg , while initially the right lay with the Bonn Cassius Foundation .

In 1571 the parish became Lutheran.

All that remains of the old church is the four-story Romanesque west tower from the 12th or 13th century. The nave was demolished in 1763 and rebuilt by 1767.

building

A single nave longhouse is attached to the old tower today. The rectangular hall with rounded corners has a north, east and south portal. The lower arched windows , like the portals, are raised by a large arched window . The saddle roof has five dormers and a ridge turret, called the Lucientower.

Interior of the church

There is a glass porch between the tower hall with its vaulted cross and the nave. With the exception of the east side, there are galleries in the nave, which are supported by marbled wooden columns. On the east side are the altar, organ and pulpit, all in the Rococo style. The ceiling has a mirror vault and is decorated with stucco ornaments.

organ

The organ was built by Franz Georg Nohl in 1767, but the interior has now been completely restored.

crucifix

The cross from the 16th century shows a body of Christ with long curls and a menacing crown of thorns. It was extensively restored in 2004 by Wilhelm and Carsten Kleinbongbard.

Baptismal font

The Romanesque font made of andesite is dated to the beginning of the 13th century. It consists of six pillars and a central shaft. The baptismal bowl is made of bronze and was created in 1976 by Waldemar Wien . Important symbols of the Christian faith can be found on it: cross , dove , fish , grapes . In front of the baptismal font, there has been an artistic bronze stand for the Easter candle since 2013 . It was created by Werner Erdmann (1935–2015).

Bells

The old bell dates from 1572 and was cast by Dederich van Coellen and Hinrich. Furthermore, the names of the Windeck official Johann van Luitzenraidt and those of Wilhelm and Johann van Etzbach zu Mauel are recorded on the bell, possibly the donors of the bell.
