Evangelos Konstantinou

Evangelos Konstantinou ( Greek Ευάγγελος Κωνσταντίνου , born December 6, 1933 in Askri near Thebes ; † April 5, 2015 in Würzburg ) was a German-Greek Byzantine .

Evangelos Konstantinou studied Orthodox theology at the University of Athens from 1952 to 1957 and Byzantine Studies and Philosophy at the Free University of Berlin from 1960 to 1964 . There he received his doctorate in 1963 on the subject of Gregory of Nyssa's doctrine of virtue in relation to the ancient-philosophical and Judeo-Christian tradition . From 1964 to 1966 he was a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation . In 1971 he completed his habilitation at the University of Würzburg in the subjects of Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology . He was a professor of these subjects at the same university and had been retired since 1998. From 2002 until his death he was a full member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg.
