Evelyn Rudie

Evelyn Rudie (born March 28, 1949 in Los Angeles as Evelyn Rudie Bernauer ) is an American actress and director of a private theater.

Life

Evelyn Rudie is a daughter of Edith Bernauer and the journalist and cabaret artist Emmerich Bernauer (1906–1996), who had to flee Germany in 1935 and came to the USA in 1938. Irish actress Agnes Bernelle was a sister of her father.

Evelyn Rudie appeared in 1956 in the television series Playhouse 90 as the embodiment of the title character of the children's book series Eloise and was nominated for an Emmy in the same year . Rudie was built up as a child star over the next few years and was involved in the marketing of children's items. In 1958, Evelyn Rudie Paper Dolls were sold under her name. Rubie has appeared on various television shows, including seven on the Tonight Show . In 1959 she was a candidate in the quiz show You Bet Your Life . Her last film appearance was 1963 in Bye Bye Birdie .

Rudie attended Hollywood High School and studied film at the University of California, Los Angeles . From 1969 she worked as a theater actress and in 1973 took over the "Santa Monica Playhouse" in Santa Monica with her husband Chris DeCarlo , in which they have since organized children's, youth and adult theater . She wrote a variety of plays and musicals. In the course of her work in this theater she gave over 10,000 performances in 350 plays.

Rudie was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
