Everybody's Gone to War

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Everybody's Gone to War is the best-selling single song by British singer-songwriter Nerina Pallot .

The song from their second album Fires was sent in advance and released as a download in March 2005. After the album became an independent success and was reissued, Everybody's Gone to War came on May 22, 2006 on the new record label 14th Floor Records (a sub-label of Warners ) a second time. It belongs to the pop-rock genre and was the first of her songs to reach number 14 on the British singles charts.

meaning

Everybody's Gone to War was created at the time of the Iraq war in 2003 and is considered a protest or anti-war song . Pallot composed it himself, like all of her songs on the Fires album .

As the album threatened to be a flop due to a small budget and the associated low promotion effort, Pallot began touring the UK as an opening act for established musicians. Through concert sales and online trading via MySpace , it was able to sell over 11,000 copies by spring 2006. Spurred on by this independent success, she was able to sign with the 14th Floor Records label. Then Fires was re-recorded and Everybody's Gone to War was released as a single on May 22, 2006. In addition to appearances on Top of the Pops and GMTV ( Good Morning Television , a British morning broadcaster) Pallot was also able to record a success in the radio UK airplay charts. The song climbed to number 3, making it the third most-played song in the country. The single entered the UK singles chart at number 37 and peaked at number 14.

Music video

For music television, a music video was shot for the single, in which the director Marc Klasfeld relocated the war scenario conveyed in the song to a supermarket. Fights with food between customers are staged in an ironic way.

production

Pallot composed the song in 2003 on bass guitar. During the production of their original album, it was re-recorded at Red Bus Studios London with the assistance of producer Howard Willing . The download version was released under Pallot's self-founded label Idaho Records . The song was re-released as a single on the 14th Floor Records label . Both tracks of the new single were taken from the re-released re-issue version of Fires and produced by Willing. Willing mixed Mr. King , the second track of the single. Chris Lord-Alge mixed the main track Everybody's Gone to War at Resonate Studios Los Angeles .
