Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out is a rockumentary by Stewart Copeland about the formation and development of the British rock band The Police . Copeland, the drummer of "The Police", bought a Super 8 camera in 1978 and followed the development of the trio from then until the temporary separation in 1984. Thus the story of the band is told directly from the point of view of one of the band members.

The film was first presented at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006 and was released on DVD in September 2006.

action

The first part of the film shows a series of photos that Copeland took with The Police before he bought a Super-8 camera. This period also includes the era with Henry Padovani and the entry of Andy Summers into the band. The film then follows the band in their efforts to achieve initial success in the USA. She accompanies Copland's childhood friend Kim Turnerals as her tour manager.

The band then returns to Europe to play at various festivals there. This is where their own success overtakes them for the first time when they are almost surrounded by a mob of fans after a concert in Birmingham. This is followed by a series of number one singles on both sides of the Atlantic, which lead to the band's great world fame. As a result, the cooperation between the individual band members deteriorates. In the end, The Police headlined the US Festival in 1982, only to break up the band afterwards.
