Ewa Demarczyk
Ewa Maria Demarczyk (born January 16, 1941 in Krakow ; † August 14, 2020 there ) was a Polish musician and actress .
Life
Ewa Demarczyk was a trained actress and pianist . She became known in the 1960s for her expressive text interpretations of her chansons and has been one of the personalities of the cultural scene in Poland ever since. She always appeared in a black dress, which earned her the nickname Black Angel or Black Lady of Polish Chanson.
While studying acting at the State Drama School in Cracow, she performed in the student cabaret Cyrulik and in 1962 came to the famous Cracow cabaret cellar Piwnica pod Baranami , where she began working with the composer Zygmunt Konieczny , who composed her most famous songs. Abroad she celebrated successes in the Paris Olympia , in New York's Carnegie Hall , in Geneva at the 20th anniversary of the UN and in Sweden and Belgium. After 1972 it appeared very rarely.
