Ewald Müller (writer)

Ewald Müller (born January 21, 1862 in Drebkau ; † May 24, 1932 in Cottbus ) was a German teacher, local poet and local researcher .

Life

Ewald Müller was born in 1862. His father was the Drebkau master baker and confectioner Ludwig Müller. He attended high school in Cottbus and later the teachers' seminar in Altdöbern . From 1882 he worked as a teacher at various Cottbus schools. In 1884 he published his first volume of poetry, Spring Blossoms . This should be followed by a few more. For the volume of poetry published in 1893, Aus der Streusandbüchse , he received the Augsburg Schiller Prize . In addition to poems, Müller also wrote a short story and two plays. In addition, he published a variety of factual texts. In it he mainly dealt with his home in Lusatia . His two main works, The Wendentum in Niederlausitz and From the Niederlausitzer Wendei, have the Sorbs as their theme. In addition to other non-fiction books, he also wrote many articles in various home calendars and magazines. Müller had correspondence with various well-known writers, including Gustav Freytag , Martin Greif , Paul Heyse , Hermann Lingg and Otto Roquette .

Ewald Müller died in 1932. He was buried in the Cottbus North Cemetery.

Aftermath

In the early 1990s called you in the Cottbus district Stroebitz a street after Ewald Müller, previously Johannes Dieckmann was dedicated. In 2010 new editions of his books Das Wendentum in der Niederlausitz and Aus der Niederlausitzer Wendei were published by Cottbus Regia-Verlag .
