The list of street renaming in Cottbus contains an overview of renaming of streets and squares in Cottbus . There were many renaming in the times of the GDR and the Soviet occupation zone between 1945 and 1989, during which many streets were given names of people who were close to communism or socialism . Most of these streets were renamed again after German reunification . Sometimes they got their old names back, sometimes they got completely new names.
