Sandow , Žandow in Lower Sorbian , is the most populous district of Cottbus .

Sandow is east of the old town of Cottbus on the right of the Spree . The Sandower Road was an ancient trade route from Cottbus to the east.
Sandow is served by the Cottbusverkehr GmbH tram line 2 . In the south of the district, the Cottbus-Sandow stop is on the Cottbus-Guben and Cottbus-Forst lines .
history
Sandow was first mentioned in 1451 . In 1615, 55 houses burned down in a fire.
In the 19th century, Sandow became an industrial site. Since 1893 a tram has been running to Cottbus . On July 1, 1904, the place was incorporated into Cottbus.
In the 1950s, a large new building area was built that characterizes the district to this day. In 1982 the rock band Sandow named themselves after this district.
