Madlow , Módłej in Lower Sorbian , is a district of the independent city of Cottbus in Brandenburg .
history
In 1346 the place was first mentioned as Madela . The place was named after the Priorgraben , a tributary of the Spree , flowing through it . At that time it was called "Modla". The name comes from the Sorbian language and means "weak, slowly flowing water". The large housing estate Sachsendorf-Madlow was built in 1974.
