Eyolf Dale (born March 5, 1985 in Skien ) is a Norwegian jazz musician ( piano , composition).

Live and act

Dale received a lot of musical support from his parents 'house: there he played choral music, he began piano lessons at the age of six, was inspired by his parents' collection of jazz records and was later allowed to use his father's in-house MIDI studio to try it out. After graduating from the secondary school in Skien in 2004, he began to work as a pianist and arranger, before studying with Misha Alperin , Bjørn Kruse and Jon Balke at the Norwegian Academy of Music from 2005 to 2009 , and then until 2011 pursued a master’s degree.

Since then he has worked as an interpreter and composer alone and together with other musicians from the Norwegian and European scene. Since 2011 he has released four albums under his own name, most recently Wolf Valley (2016) and Return to Mind (2018), which received excellent reviews from critics. In the Duo Albatrosh he has been working with the saxophonist André Roligheten since 2006. He has appeared repeatedly with tuba player Daniel Herskedal and in the trio of Hayden Powell , but also with Per-Kristian Ekholt, Pitsj and Hildegunn Øiseth . Since 2009 his discography currently (2018) comprises 27 albums. He toured Europe, Japan and China and performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival , 12 Points !, Shanghai Arts Festival, Moldejazz and the Südtirol Jazz Festival. He also teaches at his former alma mater, the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, as an associate professor.
