Gard Nilssen (born June 24, 1983 in Skien ) is a Norwegian jazz musician ( drums , also vibraphone , and composition ), who became known as a member of the groups Bushman's Revenge and Puma .

Live and act

Nilssen studied jazz at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music until 2003 . With Øystein Moen and Stian Westerhus he formed the trio Puma , which had released four albums by 2010. He is also a member of the Bushman's Revenge trio (together with Rune Nergaard and Even Helte Hermansen), which released ten albums between 2003 and 2019. In 2013 he presented his solo album Drumming . He appeared with Morten Qvenild as sPacemoNkey 2015 at the Moers Festival . In 2020 he released the album If You Listen Carefully the Music Is Yours on Odin with his large-format Gard Nilssen Supersonic Orchestra . He also belonged to the bands Lord Kelvin (with Eirik Hegdal and Erik Johannessen), Cortex (with Ola Høyer, Kristoffer Berre Alberts and Thomas Johansson ), Astro Sonic and Heidi Skjerve Kvintett . He can also be heard on albums by Marita Røstad, Team Hegdal , Elvira Nikolaisen / Mathias Eick ( I Concentrate on You ), Marius Neset / Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, the international quartet of Maciej Obara and Scent of Soil .

Nilssen represented Norway in the musician development program Take Five . In 2006 he was honored with Puma as young jazz musician of the year by Rikskonsertene and Norsk Jazzforum .
