Félicien Henry Caignart de Saulcy

Félicien Henry Caignart de Saulcy (born December 24, 1832 in Metz , France , † June 7, 1912 ibid) was a French entomologist .

Saulcy was the son of Félicien de Saulcy and Pauline de Brye (1801-1850). Like his father, he was an entomologist specializing in beetle science . He was particularly interested in the beetles and plants in caves. His collection of Scydmaenidae Trechinae , Bathysciinae , Leiodidae , Staphylinidae , Pselaphidae and Catopidae is kept in the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle in Paris .

From 1858 until his death, Saulcy was a member of the Academy of Sciences and the Entomological Society in France . From 1884 to 1912 Saulcy was president of the Société d'histoire Naturelle de Metz.

Saulcy died on June 7th, 1912 after a long and serious illness during which he was bedridden. In these last days of his life, Abbé Auguste Marie Joseph Friren (born October 24, 1837 in Thionville , † April 18, 1916 in Metz) was already acting as President of the Société d'histoire Naturelle de Metz. After Saulcy's death, he succeeded him in this post.
