Félix Pissarro (born July 24, 1874 in Pontoise , France , † November 29, 1897 in Kew , United Kingdom ) was a French painter , etcher and caricaturist . He came from the artist family Pissarro .

Life

Pissarro was also known under the pseudonym Jean Roch and in his family circle as Titi , was the third son of the impressionist painter Camille Pissarro and his wife Julia, née Vellay. His siblings were Lucien , Jeanne, Georges Henri , Ludovic Rodolphe , Jeanne (Cocotte) and Paul Émile Pissarro .

Pissarro's father thought he was "the most promising of his sons," but he contracted tuberculosis before he could reach his full potential. He died in a London mental institution at the age of 23 and was buried in the cemetery on Lower Grove Road, Richmond, Section F, grave 1176. His tombstone was restored in 2001.

In his obituary, the French journalist Octave Mirbeau attested Félix Pissarro an "unusual talent, glowing imagination, originality, passion, vision, spontaneity and above all a natural talent".

Two of his landscapes, which he painted in Richmond, are in the possession of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford .
