action

Jim Fallon is a log merchant in Northern California in 1900. He greedily tries to get hold of the land from a religious community. There are many tall trees on the community property that Fallon could do good business with. Fallon falls in love with Alicia Bixby, the daughter of the community leader. Nevertheless, he does not want to give up his plan to take the land from his owners. Yukon Burns, Jim's right-hand man, disagrees and supports the settlers.

Alicia's father dies when Jim's men cut a sequoia that falls on his father's hut. Jim tries desperately to save Alicia's father, but he fails. His efforts shatter the suspicion of murder Jim is under with the settlers. Cleve Gregg, a rival of Jim, is now also trying to appropriate the land. He also tries to have Jim killed. But instead of Jim, Yukon is killed. Jim abandons his plan and now helps the settlers fight Gregg and his partner Frenchy LaCroix. After the settlers win, Jim marries Alicia and stays with the community.
