The FC Yerevan ( Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Երեւան - Futbolayin Akumb Yerevan ) was a football club from the Armenian capital Yerevan . It was founded in 1995 and played in the Bardsragujn chumb , the top division in Armenia , for five years . In 1997 FC Yerevan became Armenian champions, in 2000 the club was dissolved again.

history

In the first two seasons 1995/96 and 1996/97 in the top division of the country, FC Yerevan each reached third place. The placement entitled FC Yerevan to participate in the 1st qualifying round of the 1997/98 UEFA Cup . The two games were clearly lost against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk from Ukraine (1: 6, 0: 2).

After switching to the annual rhythm in the league, FC Yerevan won the Armenian championship title in 1997. In the 1998/99 season , the capital club took part in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League , but lost 2-0 and 3-0 to Finnish representatives HJK Helsinki . In the 1998 season, Yerevan reached third place in the championship and had to admit defeat in the Armenian Cup only in the final of the champions Zement Ararat with 1: 3.

In the 1999/2000 season, he participated again in qualifying for the UEFA Cup . However, FC Yerevan lost 2-0 and 2-1 against Hapoel Tel Aviv from Israel and thus remained without a win after six international games. In the 1999 season, the club reached fifth place in the league.

In 2000 the association was dissolved again. Most of the players joined the other clubs in the city.
